Eagles’ 2018 Live from the Forum performance to be the first concert aired on ESPN

ESPN will air their first ever concert on Sunday.

The cable sports network will air the Eagles’ Live from the Forum MMXVIII, recorded at the legendary Los Angeles concert venue in 2018.

The Hotel California hitmakers played three sold-out shows at the venue, on September 12, 14, and 15.

The ESPN concert will feature ‘highlights from all three shows compiled into the new 26-song live album and concert film’ according to Variety.

‘Music and sports fans have been shut out from live events for more than three months. The premiere of ‘Live from the Forum MMXVIII’ this July 4 th weekend on ESPN, is the Eagles’ gift to their fans,’ said the group’s manager Irving Azoff in a statement.

‘This was a rare opportunity to partner with one of the greatest bands of all time to bring audiences some new and exciting entertainment,’ said ESPN’s executive VP of programming, acquisitions and scheduling Burke Magnus. 

‘We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase this momentous event from the Forum.’

Performing at the concert were the Eagles’ core members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, who were accompanied by Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

The Eagles were formed in Los Angeles in 1971, with the original lineup consisting of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.

Frey passed away in 2016 and his son Deacon Frey has toured with the band ever since. 

The Eagles are one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, having sold in excess of 200million records.
