Ellie Goulding and Caspar have named their son Arthur Ever Winter

Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling have named their son Arthur Ever Winter Jopling.

The announcement – under the singer’s real name, Elena – was made in The Times’ Births, Deaths and Marriages section, which was published on Thursday, and also confirmed their newborn was born on 29 April, a week to the day.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that the singer, 34, gave birth just weeks after surprising fans with the news that she was eight months pregnant in a stunning at-home shoot for Vogue Magazine.

Her husband Caspar confirmed she had welcomed a baby on his Instagram story on Sunday as he shared a picture of a bunch of flowers and wrote: ‘Mum and baby both healthy and happy 🙂 Extremely grateful’.

He added: ‘I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job, but during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy – Thank you x’.

Ellie and Caspar married in August 2019 at York Minster, and first learned they were expecting while celebrating their one-year anniversary last year.

The artist revealed late last month that she was embracing her pregnancy figure.

In an interview, the songwriter said: ‘A revelation: I’ve always had a runner’s body and now I have a bigger ass and these rather nice boobs!’

The fitness enthusiast also detailed her pregnancy cravings, admitting she has a penchant for tinned sardines and Weetabix Minis, and has even visited McDonald’s twice in the last eight months.

On her eating habits, the songwriter added to The Telegraph’s Stella Magazine: ‘[tinned sardines and Weetabix Minis] aren’t eaten at the same time… it was only two [times she went to McDonalds!’].

The Starry Eyed hitmaker also touched on discovering she was pregnant at eight weeks during a romantic trip to Italy for her first wedding anniversary.

Ellie said: ‘I thought I had an iron deficiency and got blood tests, which came back fine but my progesterone levels were high… I then started struggling a bit with exercise. That was a sign for me something had changed.’

The star echoed her comments when she announced her baby news with Vogue, sharing: ‘I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.

‘I actually went from being smug about how healthy my salads were and my breakfasts and eating nuts and seeds, and then all I wanted was McDonalds.

‘And I was kind of terrified, I suddenly wanted all of the bad things! Whatever this baby did when it took over my body was like ”Hell no—I do not want broccoli, spinach, collards! I just wanted sugar and carbs.”’

It comes after Ellie candidly discussed how she was able to keep her baby news a secret for so long during an interview on Sunday Brunch last month.

The songstress admitted she covered her growing bump with her husband’s coat as she chatted with hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy.

Asked how pregnancy had been for her and how she kept it a secret, she said: ‘It’s different… I stole my husband’s coat for about six months.

‘But that was really just in the shops, I didn’t go anywhere else. Out on walks, I just kept it covered up. It wasn’t really that hard, though, because of lockdown, I haven’t really seen anyone.’

A glowing Ellie swathed her stomach in a multicoloured jumper and floaty dress as she chatted.

The singer, who married art dealer Caspar in 2019, announced her pregnancy in stunning at-home shots taken for Vogue Magazine.

The Starry-Eyed hitmaker said she fell pregnant while on a trip celebrating their one-year anniversary in Italy last August.

Ellie’s last major appearance was at the V&A Museum that month and she has spent the duration of lockdown at home in Gloucestershire.

She said: ‘We did The One Show. I was pregnant and had no idea.

‘That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out.

‘It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality.’

Ellie admitted that being pregnant during a pandemic felt like a lonely experience but felt like complaining was a taboo.

She also previously said she did know her baby’s gender ‘by default’ when she had the scan, but had no interest in doing an official ‘reveal.’

Ellie and Jasper met in 2016 after they were seated next to each other at a dinner arranged by their mutual friend, Princess Eugenie.

The pair got married at a star-studded wedding at York Minster in August 2019, attended by everyone from the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson to the actress Sienna Miller and singers Katy Perry and James Blunt.

Her husband was educated at Eton and Harvard, and is the son of an aristocratic Yorkshire landowner and the nephew of art dealer Jay Joplin.
