Example celebrates his eighth wedding anniversary with his model wife Erin McNaught

Example marked his eighth wedding anniversary with his model wife Erin McNaught, 38, on Instagram on Tuesday.

The musician, 38, shared a collage of throwback snaps from the special day to mark the occasion. 

Example, whose real name is Elliot John Gleave, looked back at their ‘amazing outfits and awful haircuts’ over the years and said ‘every day together is a celebration’ in the gushing post.  

Example cut a dapper figure in a black suit in the wedding photos while Erin looked ethereal in a gorgeous strapless bridal gown. 

He captioned the shot: ‘8 years married today… we didn’t even realise until yesterday. I guess every day together is a celebration.

‘(why have we still not learnt to smile in pictures ??? Yet we spend all day long giggling like idiots).’ 

Erin also shared a wedding snap and the words: ‘Our wedding day – 8 years ago today! Pretty typical interaction for us in this pic right here… Not a day goes by that we don’t have fun.

‘We have our very own made up language, can talk under wet cement, are always the biggest kids in the park, and can’t stand people who walk slowly (don’t even get me started on driving) Thanks for matching my weird with your weird… God knows what we’ll be like in another 8 years but I am here for it, baby Happy anniversary.’ 

The couple have two sons, Evander, six and Ennio, three.

The couple became engaged in 2012 before tying the knot in Australia the following year. They relocated to Australia with their family in 2019. 

In 2020, Example credited Erin with ‘saving his life’ after pushing life to the extreme with drink and drugs. 

He told The Sun: ‘I wrote song [Some Nights Last For Days] for Erin three or four years ago on our anniversary.

‘I went to the studio with Johnny McDaid, who’s a good friend of mine and is in Snow Patrol. Then I came home and played it to Erin and her parents, who were visiting. We were hugging and crying because it was so personal. 

He said Erin put him on the straight and narrow after doing ‘every drug under the sun’ when he first started out.  

He said: ‘Erin saved me from an early death. I was partying too much back in the day.’
