Fans confused after Rita Ora is confirmed as a new coach on The Voice Australia

The Voice Australia’s judging panel for 2021 was announced on Wednesday. 

And fans have been left confused as to why UK pop star Rita Ora is joining an all-star panel of Australian singers, including Keith Urban, 53, Jessica Mauboy, 31, and last year’s mentor, Guy Sebastian, 39.

Taking to Twitter, many admitted that they didn’t even know who she is. 

‘Well here we go. Loved it when Keith was on The Voice AU a few years ago, Good that Guy is back. Yay Jess will be joining the Chairs. Rita Ora not sure if I am familiar with her. Maybe I can watch it,’ commented one. 

Another simply questioned: ‘Rita Who?’ 

Meanwhile, one fan expressed concern about the singer coming Down Under after she breached COVID-19 rules in the UK twice. 

‘Considering Rita Ora has been fined twice recently for breaching UK Covid rules – I hope she’s NOT going to be travelling to Australia to take part of the show as a judge,’ the user wrote. 

However, there were many who were thrilled the star has been selected as a coach. 

‘It’s OFFICIAL! Rita Ora is officially one of the judges for the Aussie version of THE VOICE for 2021!! Who’s excited! I know I am !!!!’ 

‘Excited to have Rita Ora on The Voice again!! This time in Australia,’ one commented, referring to her stint on the UK version, while another wrote: ‘So excited for Rita!!! Love her’. 

Rita is a seasoned talent show judge, having appeared on the British versions of The Voice and X Factor. 

‘I love The Voice and I absolutely adore Australia so this is a match made in heaven,’ she said in a statement. 

‘Having been a coach on the UK series, I know just how powerful it can be in making dreams come true. I can’t wait to find Australia’s next superstar.’
