Ferris Bueller lookalike house on Grand Designs is on sale for £2.5million

A luxury woodland property that featured on TV’s Grand Designs and is based on a home in the Eighties’ movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has gone on sale for £2.5million.

The elevated design of Natural Bridges, set in an eight-acre wooded valley in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall, was inspired by the residence of Cameron Frye – the hypochondriac best friend of Ferris (played by Matthew Broderick) in the 1986 cult film.

In one memorable scene, Cameron trashes his father’s beloved Ferrari car which ends up smashing through the window of the cantilevered garage at the property.

Harry Anscombe, owner of Natural Bridges, had become obsessed with living somewhere that resembled the floating steel and glass of the home in Illinois, US, which featured in the film.

Managing partner of John Bray estate agents, Josephine Ashby said: ‘The owners did a full-on Grand Designs build and are selling so they can literally do it all again.

‘They have earmarked a new plot of land to build a new family home.

‘This house would be perfect for a young family.

‘Some of the people who have looked at it already seem to know the area very well. It’s the kind of place you fall in love with.’
