Forgotten Girls Aloud member Nicola Ward floors I Can See Your Voice viewers with her vocals

It’s the popular show in which players compete for a cash prize by guessing whether mystery singers can or can’t sing without hearing them perform a single note

And I Can See Your Voice viewers were left impressed on Saturday when forgotten Girls Aloud member Nicola Ward showcased her incredible vocals.

Nicola, 39, put on such a powerful performance that fans quickly flocked to Twitter to gush about her voice, with one writing: ‘What a performance!’

Nicola turned down the chance of being in Girls Aloud in 2002 after beating 10,000 others to become a finalist on Popstars: The Rivals and was replaced by Nicola Roberts, then 16.

Couples competing on the show incorrectly guessed Nicola was a bad singer this weekend, much to viewers’ surprise.

One person tweeted: ‘I can’t believe these people thought Nicola Ward was gonna be bad! She’s amazing! I saw her when Cookie supported Girls Aloud on their first tour!’

Others simply praised Nicola’s performance.

‘God Nicola Ward sounded so amazing there. one of my favourite songs as well. Smashed it! #ICanSeeYourVoice,’ said one social media user.

Another added: ‘I knew #NicolaWard was a singer as soon as I seen her lip sync, #ICanSeeYourVoice but I had no idea of how good she would be until I heard her perform for real. She has got a marvellous voice. Bravo.’

‘WOW, Nicola Ward on I can see your voice, what a performance,’ added a fourth, with a fifth tweeting: ‘Go on Nicola Ward ! #icanseeyourvoice.’

Back in 2002 Nicola turned her back on prospective fame and fortune, claiming that the Girls Aloud contract did not meet her standards – although she has since admitted that she pulled out under pressure from a jealous boyfriend.

She was hurriedly replaced by Nicola Roberts, who had gone back to school after earlier being rejected from the show.

I Can See Your Voice is hosted by Paddy McGuiness, with Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Jimmy Carr also starring as the show’s panellists.

In April, viewers were left shocked by 48-year-old Jimmy’s appearance on the programme.

Taking to the stage for the show’s inaugural episode, Jimmy showed off his sparkling new teeth, fuller locks and more defined facial features, leaving fans wondering: ‘Why does Jimmy Carr look so strange and different, what’s he done?’

As the show progressed, more viewers took to Twitter to express their confusion over Jimmy’s new look.

Another wrote: ‘Jimmy Carr’s face is so distracting,’ while a third quipped: ‘Surely the biggest thing to guess on #caniseeyourvoice is who’s had more work done? Amanda or Jimmy Carr.’

Jimmy has spoken candidly about the full extent of his makeover in the past.

Talking on Gabby Logan’s Midpoint podcast, Jimmy said he decided to make some tweaks to his appearance after feeling disappointed that he doesn’t look as good in real life as he does on television.

He said: ‘I got my teeth done, that’s the first thing I had done, they’re more than veneers. I got every tooth in my head done in one sitting.

‘I did 12 hours in the chair the first day, then 12 hours the second, it was like a three day thing where you’ve got temporary things on, it’s pretty full on.

‘I think they gave me Rohypnol intravenously into the vein and you’re kind of out of it and they do everything and you’re fine. It’s a dream-like haze, you’re in a weird space.’

Jimmy said he wants to maintain his looks rather than change them too much.
