Frozen star Josh Gad leaves hotel quarantine in Sydney

Let him go, let him go! Frozen star Josh Gad who plays Olaf the snowman emerges from hotel quarantine in Sydney ahead of filming local series with Isla Fisher

Josh Gad is enjoying his first moments of freedom in Sydney after completing his two-week stay in hotel quarantine on Monday.

The American actor, 40, who travelled to Australia this month ahead of filming Stan Original series Wolf Like Me, cut a low-key figure as he emerged from his hotel wearing a hat, sunglasses and surgical mask.

Looking relaxed as he strolled down the footpath, the Frozen star dressed down in a blue hoodie emblazoned with a comical graphic poking fun at 2020, and a pair of grey trousers.

Josh, who famously voiced the character of Olaf the snowman in Disney’s Frozen franchise, completed his look with a sports watch, bracelet and a grey backpack.

The star had his hands full, carrying a can of soft drink and a large orange folder – perhaps containing the script for Wolf Like Me.

The new TV show will be filmed in Australia and will star Josh and Isla Fisher, 45.

The upcoming series is written by Australian filmmaker Abe Forsythe, and is based on his own life experience.

It tells the story of a fortysomething single parent, with Josh and Isla heading up the show’s cast.

The six-part series will also be directed by Abe, 39, and is being made in conjunction with NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock in the U.S.

Each episode of the drama series will run for 30 minutes, and production will begin in Australia in coming months.

Josh will play Gary, while Isla, 45, will play Mary, two strangers who are brought together in a twist of fate.

Gary is described as an ’emotional wreck’, who ‘struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife’.

Meanwhile, ‘Mary has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone’.

In a statement to Stan, Abe said: ‘Wolf Like Me is a very meaningful project for me, the stakes are extremely high but grounded by things we can all relate to.

‘I’m so excited to have Isla and Josh on board, and I know the audience will be surprised seeing them in a different way as these characters.’

In addition to Wolf Like Me, Abe’s previous projects include local productions Down Under and Little Monsters.
