Italy’s death toll has skyrocketed by 793 in just 24 hours taking the country’s total fatalities to 4,825.
More than 53,500 people have been diagnosed with the bug nationally.
This is up more than 6,500 since yesterday.
The country has a population of 60million and has suffered more deaths from coronavirus than the whole of China, with its population of 1.4billion.
