Geri Horner is set to help children with creative writing while Gary Lineker will teach them Spanish as they lead a slew of celebrities in CBBC’s new home-schooling show

Geri Horner and Gary Lineker are set to join a slew of celebrities teaching children from home during the UK’s lockdown, the BBC revealed on Tuesday.

The Spice Girls star, 47, will be taking part in the 20-episode CBBC series by helping young students with their creative writing in a show that aims to bring a primary school curriculum to the small screen.

Gushing about the opportunity to help primary school kids, children’s author Geri said: ‘Sharing the power of words on CBBC was a lot of fun.’

Geri, who has written several books over the years, will help young aspiring writers by teaching them how to write a great story and develop a character, as well as how to create the perfect setting and plot for their work. 

The pop icon will also take the opportunity to show students around her farm and explain how her animals help inspire her stories. 

Adding his expertise to the mix, Gary is on hand to teach Spanish and of joining the programme he revealed: ‘Learning Spanish when I moved to Barcelona was good fun. It’s helped me ever since.’

Meanwhile Glee star Matthew Morrison is set to teach musical theatre, while Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson is on hand for art lessons.

Dame Darcey Bussell will also make an appearance on the show to teach dance, and Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry are going to their garden to give tips to children on how to help parents with their plot.

Heading into the kitchen is Heston Blumenthal, who will teach children how to make the perfect strawberry ice cream sundae.

Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Simmonds is set to talk about ocean geography with children, while Former Economic Secretary to the Treasury Ed Balls will teach history.

Children looking forward to the show can also submit their own questions to their celebrity supply teachers via the CBBC website. 

The channel’s new show will see each celebrity take part in a one-off episode based around their special subject as a way to help with home schooling.

Celebrity Supply Teacher is set to begin airing on on CBBC and BBC iPlayer from June 8, 2020.
