Geri Horner looked unrecognisable as she transformed into Queen Elizabeth I in the stunning teaser for her new YouTube series Rainbow Woman.

The Spice Girls hitmaker was worlds away from her racier looks as she donned an illustrious red gown and wig to play the fierce monarch.

Geri donned a majestic Tudor outfit for a social media video, accompanied by the hashtag, Rainbow Woman.

Ready for a surprise: Geri Horner looked unrecognisable as she transformed into Queen Elizabeth I in the stunning teaser for her new YouTube series Rainbow Woman

Her crimson and gold outfit featured puff sleeves, a velvet corset and intricate embellishment as she marched down a castle corridor in the dramatic clip.

She was also seen clutching opulent rosary beads and walking hastily towards a church steeple.

Geri’s iconic ginger locks perched beneath a delicate beaded headband, and she wore a pale make-up look, reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth I.

In another video posted to her Instagram account, the star rode in a horse and carriage through a rural British landscape, which she captioned: ‘She’s coming… #RainbowWoman.’

Queen Elizabeth ruled over England throughout the Tudor period, succeeding her sister Mary I on the throne from 1558 to 1603.

Known for her signature red hair and refusal to find a husband, she became known as ‘The Virgin Queen’ for ruling the country without a man at her side.

Geri would not be the first star to play the legendary Queen, with Cate Blanchett taking on the role in 1998’s Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age in 2007, with both films earning her Academy Award nominations for Best Actress.

In 2018, Margot Robbie also transformed into Elizabeth in Mary Queen of Scots, receiving a nomination for a BAFTA Award.

It was reported in The Sun in September, that Geri is focusing on a new childrens’ series which will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

She is expected to release a range of children’s fiction books following the success of her first novel, Ugenia Lavender, which sold 250,000 copies over five months after it was released in 2008.

It is likely that her intriguing video project is linked to her upcoming books as they are promoted under the Rainbow Woman banner.

A source speaking to the publication claimed: ‘Rainbow Woman will build on the Spice Girls’ ‘girl power’ legacy but will also celebrate diversity and LGBTQ people, which she has long been a supporter of.

‘Geri is all about love and acceptance so it’s important for that to be at the centre of everything she does.

‘She recently filed legal documents to protect the name Rainbow Woman and has been hard at work on the project.’

The source added that Geri hopes to release the first book in time for the festive season, and added that even during lockdown she’s managed to write a lot of content.

They also confirmed that the mother-of-two plans to focus all of her efforts on her new project instead of relaunching a solo singing career.
