Gianluca Vacchi reveals his daughter Blu, five months, has had surgery on her cleft palate

Gianluca Vacchi has revealed that his five-month-old daughter Blu has had surgery on her cleft palate. 

The Italian playboy, 53, took to Instagram to share that it has been an ’emotional and challenging week’ watching his ‘little baby go through something so serious as a surgery’.

Posting a sweet picture cuddling his daughter in hospital on Thursday, the millionaire said she had been ‘so brave and calm’ during the operation. 

Last December Gianluca and his girlfriend Sharon Fonseca, 25, revealed their daughter was born with a cleft palate, saying it was ‘strong blow for both of us’.  

A cleft lip or palate occurs when the parts of a baby’s face do not join properly during its development in the womb. 

Alongside his new Instagram post he penned: ‘Earlier this week, we had our daughter’s cleft palate surgery.

‘It has been a very challenging and emotional week for us, and you can already imagine for her… having your little baby go through something so serious as a surgery, really shakes your whole world as a parent. 

‘Our angel really doesn’t ceases to amaze us! She was so brave, calm and sweet through it all, it makes me so proud to be her father!

‘With tears in my eyes, I tell you that my heart goes out to all the parents that go through health experiences with their babies! Hope you guys are always protected. We are now home. We are so grateful and blessed!

In December Gianluca revealed how her being born with a cleft palate was a ‘strong blow for both of us’ and how his ‘head, my soul and my heart immediately went with Blu’. 

Gianluca told US Hola: ‘When they told me, my head, my soul and my heart immediately went with Blu, but also with all the children who can have the same condition and who are not lucky enough of having resources like us.  

‘The operation consists of opening the palate and suturing the muscles that did not close naturally during pregnancy. But, of course, it is a surgery that involves anesthesia, and Blu is only a few months old.

‘Although the doctors have explained to us that once the problem is corrected, she will be able to lead a completely normal life. Thank God, she looks a lot more like her mother.’

In January Gianluca expressed a desire to tie the knot with his partner Sharon following the birth of their baby daughter. 

In an interview with Hello! magazine, the millionaire told how he now wants his daughter to grow up in a ‘traditional’ family, while Sharon has declared that she’s eager to have more offspring with her beau. 

When asked about the prospect of marriage, he said: ‘Although I already feel married to Sharon, I would like my daughter to grow up on a traditional family and yes, I would marry, above all, for Sharon…

‘I want to say I’ll turn up one day with a ring and say: “Sharon, will you marry me right now?” On the other hand, I’d like to wait for Blu to be a little older so that she can be there and remember the wedding of her parents.’

And the couple, who plan to live between Italy and Miami, will likely have a sizeable family during their would-be union, as Sharon wants to have many more offspring.

After being asked if she would like more children, Sharon enthused: ‘Yes, because I am living a dream. I enjoy every second so much that I would do it a thousand times.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Gianluca revealed plans to get more involved with charities and foundations helping children with cleft palate.
