Gogglebox’s groom-to-be Pete Sandiford details his ‘pricey’ wedding

Gogglebox star and groom-to-be Pete Sandiford discussed his ‘pricey’ upcoming wedding during Friday’s episode with his little sister Sophie, 24.

The TV personality, 26, who confirmed he had proposed to his fiancée Paige Yeomans in February, humorously quipped that he will have to ‘max out’ four credit cards to cover the costs.     

‘You don’t realise how much weddings cost when you get going, everything is a grand here and a grand there.’ he said.

Sophie laughed: ‘I love how everything is always a round figure of £1,000.’

Pete bantered with his sister: ‘I don’t just have grands here and grands there knocking about. Have you got another credit card I can whack this on?  

‘So that’s four maxed [out] credit cards now,’ he said as Sophie joked: ‘Fifth time lucky.’

Pete added; ‘Just try this one, this should work… I’ll just spread it all over a hundred monthly payments.’ 

Pete, who is expecting his first child with his fiancée, previously discussed having a buffet on the big day which would feature ‘cheese, sausages, pineapple and cocktail sticks’.

When his sister proposed he should use tinned pineapple instead of fresh fruit to save the pounds, he amusingly concurred: ‘I’m not made of money.’  

Two months earlier, Pete casually dropped into conversation the bombshell news that he is set to wed Paige.

He confirmed that he ‘is going to have a wife’ while chatting to his little sister during the first episode of the new series, and told her that she will be his ‘best woman’ at the wedding.

Sophie had asked her brother: ‘Do you feel any different now that you’ve got engaged?’

‘Yeah, I think… I feel like an even bigger responsibility. I don’t know why. I’m going to have a wife’ enthused Pete.

‘Yes, you’re going to have a wife,’ repeated Sophie. 

And earlier this month, Pete dropped another bombshell when he revealed that his fiancée Paige is pregnant.

The reality star confirmed the exciting news as his younger sister Sophie gushed over a scan picture of her niece or nephew.

As the siblings chatted about the soon-to-be new member of their family, Pete exclaimed: ‘I am actually going to be a dad to somebody.’

Handing his sister an image of the ultrasound, Pete said: ‘Here we go, look at this!’ 

To which auntie-to-be Sophie replied: ‘My niece or nephew. Does it look like me?’ while holding the image up to her face.  

Her brother joked: ‘No, it’s going to be good looking. Hopefully it looks like Paige.’ 

He then mused: ‘Innit mad? I am actually going to be a dad to somebody.’

With Sophie adding: ‘Crazy. Life’s coming at you fast.’

Fans watching the episode at home were quick to take to Twitter to share their joy and surprise at Pete’s baby news.

One viewer tweeted: ‘Congratulations Pete and Auntie Sophie!’

While another shared: ‘Pete being a dad is the real news we needed.’
