Gogglebox’s producer reveals which networks are ‘more friendly’ about being featured on the show

Gogglebox producer reveals TV networks have become ‘more friendly’ in recent years – despite having their programs ripped to shreds on the reality show

Every year, network bosses are subjected to watching their programs get ripped to shreds by the cast of Foxtel’s Gogglebox.

But the reality show’s executive producer David McDonald claims he’s received nothing but good will from rival networks over the past few years.

Speaking to TV Tonight on Saturday, McDonald revealed that Channels Ten, Seven, Nine, as well as ABC, SBS and Foxtel bosses have all become more ‘forthcoming’ towards the cheeky reality show.

McDonald also noted that he was surprised that Nine has been so friendly, given that its shows such as Married At First Sight, Paramedics and Lego Masters are often lambasted on Gogglebox.

‘It’s funny Nine have become even more friendly over the last three years. I don’t know why!’ he mused.

He also mentioned that being featured on Gogglebox can also be beneficial for shows with less viewership, such as programs on government-funded networks, as it can spark new interest in the programs.

McDonald also noted that Channel Seven has been slightly more selective in its approach to Gogglebox.

‘To be honest Seven too – not with everything but certain shows. They all know when they want a little push with something,’ he added.

Elsewhere, he hinted that an Australian version of Celebrity Gogglebox is currently in discussion.
