A gunman has killed one victim and severely wounded a security guard who tried to intervene outside a private Red Cross hospital in Paris.
The attack took place outside the Henry Dunant Hospital in the French capital’s 16th arrondissement early on Monday afternoon.
‘A gunman pulled up outside the hospital on a scooter and shot a man and a woman, leaving one dead,’ said a local police source.

The source said the attack happened at 1.40pm, and both victims received medical attention at the scene, before one succumbed to their wounds.
The attacker fled on a motorcycle, a police source told Reuters, adding that nothing was known about the motive for the attack.
BFM television reported that the person killed is a man and the person injured is a woman who was working as a security agent for the hospital.
‘One person died and one is seriously injured,’ a fire service source said.
The hospital, in the upscale 16th district, is also a COVID-19 vaccination centre.

‘It appears that the main target was a man, who was killed,’ said an investigating source. ‘He was hit severely times in the head by the gunman who fired at point-blank-range.’
‘The woman who was severely injured was a security guard who tried to intervene. She was very badly wounded.’
Other witnesses said they had seen the victim ordering a cup of coffee in the area just before he was killed.
Neither of the victims has yet been identified.
