Gwyneth Paltrow reveals family tensions and hints at sexual frustration during coronavirus lockdown

Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk have taken part in a YouTube advice session with an intimacy coach during the coronavirus lockdown.

The Hollywood star and her husband of two years spent almost an hour telling Michaela Boehm about their family tensions for a video first shared to Goop members, and now posted on YouTube.

Gwyneth revealed that her two children Apple, 15, and Moses, 13, are struggling with not seeing their friends, while she also admitted many adults will be suffering from sexual frustration.

The video, titled How Do You Find Intimacy In Uncertain Times?, shows Gwyneth, 47, lounging on the floor in a black top and thick-rimmed glasses with her hair pulled back, alongside her cardigan-wearing husband.

Gwyneth – who owns two vast properties in LA  – admitted: ‘We’re lucky that we have a really solid relationship but we’re also in the house with the kids and it’s pretty close quarters.’

She added that her children, who she shares with ex husband Chris Martin, are struggling, explaining: ‘I think we all feel, especially my teenagers right now, are feeling really pent in. – especially Apple who is a really social creature.

‘We’re really following the strict guidelines so she’s not able to see people she usually sees, so it gets fractious in moments.’

‘So there’s definitely tensions in the house, and we have the added dynamic of step-parent, and I think there is quite a lot of stress that comes from trying to recalibrate to this new normal and new level of proximity.’

Gwyneth went on to lament her and Brad’s lack of privacy in their mansion, pointing out:  ‘As a couple it’s sort of like, “Where do you go as a couple when you’re all in the house and you’ve got dogs, and work, and work from home”. It’s like, “What are you supposed to do?”‘

Gwyneth caused a stir last year when she admitted she and Brad spend three nights a week apart, choosing to live in their different LA houses.

Michaela advised Gwyneth to ‘just live with’ her teen troubles, but said she needed to ‘compartmentalize’ her house and the time she was spending with her kids to avoid rows.

Turning to questions of sex during lockdown, Gwyneth asked Michaela what she was telling her clients who were being ‘resistant to intimacy’ during lockdown.

Gwyneth added she had ‘a friend’ who wanted her to ask Michaela what to do to cure a feeling of being non-sexual due to anxiety over the coronavirus chaos.

The actress said: ‘I had a good friend who follows your work and knows we are going to speak today.

‘She asked me to ask you… she’s having areal hard time feeling sexual and it’s not usually an issue but during this time she’s having really hard time with it.

‘She said a couple of her friends are also having this. What do you recommend for women to get back in touch with their sexuality?’

Michaela – who has previously talked about tantric sex with Gwyneth at Goop events – told the actress she had a ‘pleasure course’ women in lockdown could follow.

Gwyneth’s husband Brad, 49, seemed worried about the psychological impact of lockdown, asking Michaela for advice on analysing whether you were losing your mind and going ‘off’ in confinement.

The couple’s call wrapped up with asking Michaela to share with the world one of her ‘couples exercises’, which led to Gwyneth and Brad hugging each other off camera.

Michaela told them as she instructed them to get intimate that it was part of ‘non linear activity’ designed to get rid of ‘built up trauma’ in the body, and to activate our ‘native self-cleaning mechanism’.

Last month the Hollywood star was blasted for sharing a ‘tone-deaf’ selfie on her Goop Instagram account which saw her dressed in a casual G.Label outfit that totaled around $875.

The post included a ‘tap to shop’ option while the caption read: ‘Most days you’ll find GP wearing G.Label with a pair of sneakers—which is one reason we make it an annual tradition to put together a fresh sneaker guide each year. Get ready to cover some serious ground (run, dont walk). Link in bio for the guide & tap to shop GP’s outfit.’

The backlash came thick and fast in the comments section, and the post was deleted around four hours later.
