Hamish Blake cheekily admits Lego Masters outright COPIED a ‘MasterChef trick’

‘Did they invent it?!’ Hamish Blake cheekily admits Lego Masters outright COPIED a ‘MasterChef trick’ used during an elimination challenge… so did you spot it?

MasterChef Australia is a ratings juggernaut for Channel 10, so it comes as no surprise that rival networks would want to replicate the show in some way.

And on Monday’s episode of Nine’s Lego Masters, host Hamish Blake cheekily admitted that the show outright COPIED a ‘MasterChef trick.’

The 38-year-old made the candid admission during the elimination challenge, which looked eerily similar to a cook off on the hit food series.

‘Did they invent it?!’ Hamish Blake cheekily admitted on Monday that Lego Masters outright COPIED a ‘MasterChef trick’ used during an elimination challenge… so did you spot it?

Contestants on Lego Masters had to build a piece in the workshop as their rivals watched on from up above them.

Viewers often see this happen on MasterChef, when the stars compete in a cooking challenge or elimination round.

‘No, making them go head-to-head, with everyone watching? That’s not a ”MasterChef trick,” that’s just a TV thing…’ Hamish hilariously said in a piece to camera.

Hamish then hilariously pretended to speak to a producer off camera, saying: ‘What’s that? Did MasterChef invent it, did they? Did you work on MasterChef? Did you really? Five seasons? Which ones? Oh, Poh!’

He added: ‘Yep, it’s a MasterChef trick.’

He also joked during the challenge: ‘Under the rules of reality television, during a head-to-head build, anyone who’s safe must be elevated off the floor.’

‘No-one knows why that’s the rule, but it certainly adds a lot of pressure!’

Lego Master fans soon took to Twitter to say how much they appreciated Hamish’s honesty.

‘The MasterChef friendly shade was pure gold though,’ one fan wrote.

Another added a laughing GIF and wrote: ‘Hamish’s little comment about MasterChef.’

Earlier this week, another fan also noticed the similarities between MasterChef and Lego Masters and wrote online: ‘Lego Masters feels like a strangely discounted version of MasterChef.’

Despite copying MasterChef, Lego Masters is also a hit with viewers and had a successful first season.

It’s currently in its second season and sees contestants try to impress with their Lego builds.

Hamish told Now To Love last month about season two and said he had lots of fun on set.

‘The joy with season two is that you know what you’re doing and can have more fun with it,’ Hamish said.

‘It was fun to have meetings and come up with wild challenges and builds, and then take it to Brickman to approve if it was possible,’ he added.
