Hundreds of Virgin Media and Sky broadband customers are without internet this afternoon with both companies suffering issues.

More than 400 Sky broadband customers have reported problems today, according to Down Detector, which monitors online outages.

Around 300 customers have reported issues with Virgin Media, Down Detector says.

Virgin Media complaints spiked around 11.20am today.

Sky Broadband customers suffered issues around the same time.

More than 300 Virgin Media customers are still reporting issues as of 1pm, though the number of Sky customers facing issues has fallen to 185, according to Down Detector.

The problems have sparked anger from customers of the firm on Twitter.

One Sky broadband customer, Nikhilkumar Shah, said: ‘And again Sky fall. Really on and off the last two weeks, not just for me but in all the neighbourhood.’ 

One Virgin Media customer, Hugo Drayton, said: ‘Yet again Virgin Media – your patchy, rubbish broadband service is down.

‘Do you have any idea how poor or disruptive your service is?’ 

Another, Nicky Rowe, said: ‘Virgin Media my internet is down again. I’m working from home like everyone else.

‘This isn’t good enough. The internet and TV has been shockingly bad for two weeks now.

‘My bill is £82 and it’s just not good enough.’  

It comes days after Virgin Media customers faced 18 hours of disruption across the country.

Tens of thousands of customers were unable to access the internet on Monday evening.

Virgin Media said the issues were fixed in the early hours of Tuesday morning, but  hundreds of customers still continued to face issues later in the day.
