Toni and David Campbell’s friendship goes way back. David even helped her husband Will propose.

Last month, Toni told The Australian Women’s Weekly that she met her husband Will at a Darlinghurst bar while she was on a date with another man.

‘She would bring in boyfriends for me to critique them,’ Will fondly reminisced.

‘I’d tell her, ”He’s a keeper, that guy!” And then, you know, a year later… it got romantic,’ he added.

The chance meeting occurred after Toni had returned from living in Los Angeles in 2001. The multi-talented performer was fronting Funniest Home Videos at the time.

The couple got together a year later and Will proposed on Christmas Eve in 2006.

He asked friend and singer David Campbell to deliver a special on-camera message that Will had an important question to ask.

Toni made a name for herself in her career thanks to E Street and Home and Away and even had a budding singing career.

But she turned her back on fame to start a family and has no regrets.

However, she returned to the spotlight earlier this year to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
