Greek-Australian actor Alex Dimitriades is one of the country’s top actors who is known for roles including The Heartbreak Kid, Head On and Underbelly.
And last week, the 47-year-old reflected on his incredible success in the industry.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the Amazing Grace star admitted he feels ‘very lucky.’

Alex, who is also an accomplished DJ, is celebrating his new partnership with The Star Sydney.
Alex has provided the soundtrack and beats for the Japanese restaurant Sokyo at The Star this month, for its Festival of Indulgence.
‘I’ve been helping them out this month with music, a few live performances and helping them out with curated playlists,’ Alex said.

‘I’m just doing my thing and it’s all about indulgence.’
Speaking about his career success, which began when he was a teen in the film The Heartbreak Kid opposite Claudia Karvan and it’s subsequent TV series, Heartbreak High, Alex said he feels ‘very lucky.’
‘I’m very lucky, in terms of how it was set up and structured,’ he said.
‘I was a teenager and we did a movie first, The Heartbreak Kid and that was hugely successful… I was like a young new star and they really put me out there,’ Alex said.

‘And I had no idea what was going on, I was rolling with the punches and I was very, very young and just out there, living the dream I suppose… I knew I was good at it [acting] and I knew I had potentially a good future with but it’s not something I ever imagined doing. It was pretty wild.’
Alex said that despite rising to fame at a young age, he always remained humble and grounded.
‘I was normal about it all, people were like, “how are you with it all, how’s your life?”
‘I remained the same person. I was starting trying to visualise where I wanted to go with this thing and not get caught up with [the idea of] “how awesome I am.”

He added: ‘I have this ability to remain grounded and not be too impressed with it all. It seems to have worked, you really have to have to your wits about it all.’
Alex is now DJ’ing at The Star Sydney and said for years, he’s always had a passion for music as well as acting.
‘It’s not necessarily a common one or one I planned, but two things I’ve done that run concurrently, as as time goes on they lend each other more and more,’ he explained.
Alex said he’s bringing some early electronic and 80s post-disco beats to Sokyo for the festival.

He said ‘music became his friend’ around the age of 10 when he was staying at his grandmother’s place while his parents were overseas for a few months and he was separated from his siblings.
Alex has just finished working on the political drama Total Control and also spoke about working with actress Rachel Griffiths, who stars in the show and is a show creator.
‘She quite often has a lot of in depth information in regards to the political sphere,’ Alex said.
‘She is very well versed in that world. It was great, a lot of fun and really cool,’ he said.
