Home schooling, cleaning schedules and ‘clean eating’: Inside Teresa Palmer’s coronavirus lockdown in Adelaide with her three children

Australian actress Teresa Palmer is taking every precaution she can to keep her family safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hacksaw Ridge star, 34, has chosen to self-isolate with her husband Mark Webber, and their three children at their rural Adelaide property.

On Monday, she began homeschooling efforts with her two sons, and admitted she was ‘making cleaner food choices’ and ‘incessantly cleaning’.

Teresa and Mark share sons Forest Sage, three, Bodhi Rain, six, and 11-month-old daughter Poet Lake. Mark also shares 12-year-old son Isaac with a past partner.

While the Australian government have not ordered for schools to be closed, many parents are choosing not to send their children to educational facilities.

Teresa claimed her first day of being a ‘mummy teacher’ was exhausting, but was happy her boys enjoyed the homeschooling experience.

‘I kept their regular schools hours and packed lunches to keep some semblance of routine… Wrangling both of them at different stages of development, learning and interest was challenging BUT I had fun,’ she said.

She shared videos showing off the engaging activities she planned for her children, including reading and writing tasks, arts and crafts and ‘imaginative play’.

Her husband Mark also hosted an at-home P.E session, which included an outdoor obstacle course for the young boys.

Teresa said they had stocked up on food and supplies, and were eating healthy cooking, drinking plenty of Remedy kombucha, fresh orange juice and water.

‘We are washing hands frequently, boosting our immune systems by squeezing fresh OJ (vit C) and generally making cleaner food choices.’ 

‘We perhaps are being more diligent than others but it feels right at the moment,’ she said, noting that it appeared other Australian didn’t seem as phased by the pandemic as she was.

‘It’s a crazy world out there. We are trying to be proactive in a way that not only protects us but also protects those we love; the more vulnerable members of our community, including my parents.’

Globally there have been more than 181,000 cases of coronavirus, with the death toll already surpassing 7,000.

In Australia, the first reported case of COVID-19 occurred in January.

As of midday Tuesday, there were 411 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country, including five deaths.
