Inside Hamish Blake and Zoë Foster Blake’s $6600 a night family getaway at Lord Howe Island

Hamish and Zoë Foster Blake became ambassadors for Tourism Australia in October.

And this week, the couple have been sharing incredible footage from their luxury family holiday on Lord Howe Island, tiny island in the Tasman Sea.

Hamish, 39, and Zoë, 40, are staying at a $6,600-a-night resort as they encourage people to ‘see Australia’ and ‘holiday here this year’ during the Covid pandemic.

‘At risk of eye-rolling from the locals and loyal visitors both, my review is: it’s phenomenal,’ Zoë said.

The Blakes praised the island for being both child-friendly and a ‘nature-heavy circuit breaker for parents’.

Hamish, who hosts Lego Masters on Nine, shared his ‘fun facts’ about the island, including how there’s a cap of 400 tourists at any given time.

The 10-kilometre-long, crescent-shaped volcanic remnant is picturesque in every direction, and Hamish and Zoë made sure to capture, and experience, it all.

Zoë shared a loved-up selfie with Hamish in a gold metallic bikini on one day, with the incredibly pristine beach behind them.

Not only did they spend time on the sand, the family hit the water to kayak, snorkel, free-drive and fish, rode bikes around the hilly landscape, took to the golf course and enjoyed the local cuisine.

When describing the island, Zoë said: ‘Jurassic rainforest with Tahitian-level water, misty mountains to hike and astonishing coral reef to scub and snork. I mean, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which gives you a pretty big clue that it’s special, but it’s REAL special.’

In fact, the landscape has often been compared by visitors to that of Hawaii, Polynesia, Tahiti or the fictional Jurassic Park.

Hamish and Zoë aren’t the first big name guests to lend their star power to promoting the unique getaway during the global coronavirus pandemic.

In October 2020, shortly after a five-month flight suspension to and from the island was lifted, Tourism Australia global ambassador Chris Hemsworth and his extended family enjoyed a mini vacation there.

The Hemsworths and New Zealand director Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder,  JoJo Rabbit, What We Do In The Shadows) got to enjoy the island’s fishing, surfing, snorkelling and hiking while there.

Adult direct flights to Lord Howe Island from Sydney start from $500pp via Qantas.
