Jake Quickenden insists he will ignore vicious comments about son Leo, three months

Jake Quickenden revealed he plans to rise above vicious trolls who make comments about his baby son Leo.

The reality star, 32, hit back at trolls in March after he received comments claiming the newborn, who was born in February, ‘needs Botox’ and that he’s ‘weird looking’.

But Jake has now decided to simply ignore the vile comments but admits it will be hard to reject his parental instinct to protect his son.

Rising above: Jake Quickenden, 32, revealed he plans to ignore vicious trolls who make comments about his newborn son

Speaking to The Sun, Jake said: ‘Obviously the emotions I felt when he was trolled was anger and like surprise.

‘I understand if someone doesn’t like me, I can be a bit annoying so I get that. But to troll a baby to try and get a reaction out of me, is a little bit low.

‘But you have to think, these people might need the random act of kindness. These people are probably the ones that need it.’

The father-of-one, who shares son Leo with his girlfriend Sophie Church, 28, said he is instead trying to focus on the positives.

But Jake has not always managed to keep his cool, taking to Instagram to name and shame some of the accounts which made horrible comments about his son.

Hitting back at the trolls at the time, the proud dad penned: ‘REAL POST… So in the past week this little man has been told he needs Botox, that he’s ugly as f**k and that he’s weird looking.

‘Me myself have also been told stay off social media if you don’t want to be trolled, it’s so baffling to me that I should have to stay off social media if I don’t want my 4 week old trolled.

‘I don’t mind people giving me s**t, as sad as it is I’ve had to get used to being called ‘irrelevant’, ugly’, ‘attention seeking’ and the list goes on but to troll a innocent child is so wrong and the people doing it seriously need to seek help.’

Jake continued: ‘Also why should I stay off social media if I don’t want him trolled the thought process of some people is shocking, maybe people just shouldn’t troll.

‘I enjoy social media it’s full of lovely people who are supportive and I like sharing my ups and downs, I try and be real as possible, but unfortunately there is a dark side of social media and something needs doing about it.

‘Anyway rant over!! The lion is 4 weeks today! Cute af. Love you son @leooliverq’

But speaking this week, Jake admitted he deleted the screenshots shortly after posting them because he feared it may lead to the person being trolled too.

His words come after earlier this week Jake let slip that he plans to propose to his girlfriend Sophie very soon.

Speaking to Entertainment Daily, Jake said that a proposal was definitely ‘on the cards’ in the near future.

Discussing the idea of him popping the question, Jake teased: ‘We’re not engaged yet. I’ll just leave it at that. Very soon. Very soon. I’ll get down on one knee very soon. Obviously it’s on the cards. Usually people are married then they have kids but we’ve done it the other way round.’

Jake also hinted that their potential big day will have to be put on hold until the coronavirus pandemic has subsided, as he wants ‘everything to clear up first.’

The singer went on to praise his ‘diamond’ girlfriend for the way she’s handled juggling work and motherhood since giving birth to Leo 11 months ago.

He said: ‘She works so hard bless her, she’s back at work three days a week and juggling him, she’s definitely a diamond. We do the whole baby thing together. We just try and support each other as much as possible. I think we’ve got a really strong relationship in that way.’

Meanwhile, the reality star opened up about parenthood and admitted that being a new dad is ‘harder than I ever expected.’

He went on: ‘I just take my hat off to every parent out there. You come up against so many different hurdles – I’m more worried than I ever thought I could be. I’m worried about everything. You have to expect that and expect that you’re going to be worrying till he’s 18 and then you’ll probably still worry.’

Despite his fears, Jake told how being a dad is ‘amazing’ and that he would ‘change anything’, including the lack of sleep.

Meanwhile, Jake recently shared his worries about leaving his baby son Leo for six months to sing on a cruise ship.

Speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Access All Areas on FUBAR Radio earlier this month, the star admitted that the idea gives him ‘really bad anxiety’.

Jake explained that he was previously supposed to do the work commitment but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The TV personality said: ‘I was supposed to be on cruises for six months singing. So it looks like they’re going again. So I will probably be leaving.

‘But it gives me really bad anxiety now I’ve got Leo to think that I could be away for such a long time.’

Jake added that although he is worried about leaving his baby son, he ‘loves working’ and even joked that Leo’s nappies ‘aren’t cheap’.

He continued: ‘But at the end of the day, I love working. I love kind of what I do. And I want to kind of get cracked on back to work, because, like I said, that baby milk and those nappies, they’re not cheap!’

Talking about how expensive a baby can be, Jake joked: ‘I’m going to have to do about two years on the cruises I think!’

The I’m A Celebrity star, who shares Leo with girlfriend Sophie, announced the birth of his first child in February.

The tot’s birth was documented on Celebrity Bumps: Famous and Pregnant, with couple are seen in tears as they cradle baby boy, who weighed 5lb10 after a 24-minute labour.
