The plot for the new comedy centers on Hudson as a down on her luck singer who is mistakenly credited with writing the next Christmas hit.

The American Idol alum will perform holiday standards as well as new Christmas songs in the movie, according to Deadline.

Hudson, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for 2006’s Dreamgirls, was last seen on the big screen in the star-studded box office bomb Cats.
