Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez throw a surprise 75th birthday party for her mother Guadalupe

She celebrated her mother’s 74th birthday by bringing her up on stage at one of her concerts.

And Jennifer Lopez surprised her mom Guadalupe again on Wednesday with a surprise 75th birthday celebration that came a day early.

The 51-year-old actress and singer shared a sweet video of the intimate family gathering to Instagram on Saturday as she and her fiancé Alex Rodriguez, 45, serenaded the matriarch. 

Jennifer’s video showed her and other family members hiding in a corner of Lupe’s stately home as she walked in while still wearing a mask.

She may have gotten the hint that something was going on, based on pink and purple balloons lining the entrance hallways, but she was clearly startled when J-Lo and everyone else jumped out and shouted, ‘Happy birthday!’ 

‘Happy 75th birthday to my beautiful mommy!!!’ the Hustlers star wrote in her caption.

‘I love you so much. We all do. You are the definition of being youthful and timeless at every age … thank you for your endless love, energy, support and for just being you!!! I love you forever ♥️,’ she wrote, adding the hashtags, ‘#HappyBirthday,’ and ‘#TheLupinator.’

After initially startling her mother, Jennifer walked her back to see all her unexpected guests.

Though she’s famous for her revealing fashion choices, J-Lo opted for a more conservative burgundy dress that reached down to her ankles, which she paired with black boots.

The mother–daughter duo shared a sweet hug, as Lupe was clearly emotional.

After she had settled herself a bit, the family sat down for dinner.

Jennifer helped put on a new pair of earrings on her mother, and they presented her with fun gambling-themed gifts, including scratch-off lottery tickets and a slot machine. 

Alex shared the same video, except his copy had an extra section edited in in which he quizzed Lupe on her favorite Yankee players.

‘What an honor it was to surprise and celebrate @jlo’s mother, Lupe, on her 75th birthday,’ he wrote. ‘It’s obvious where Jen gets her beauty! Happy 75th to a truly wonderful woman.’

Jennifer was raised in the Bronx by her mother Guadalupe Rodríguez and her father David Lopez. 

Earlier on Friday, Alex and Jennifer shared videos of themselves setting up the surprise party on Wednesday, ahead of Lupe’s actual birthday on Saturday.

Earlier in December, Alex told People that he and Jennifer were looking to keeping things limited to family for their Christmas celebrations this year.

‘I think everything is just going to be smaller. With COVID, everything is a little different,’ he told the outlet. ‘Good company, family, good food, a little wine [ that always helps. Just being together with the family, really that’s all that matters.’

The former Yankee star noted that he and his fiancée are ‘always with the four kids,’ referring to her twins Max and Emme, 12, and his daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12.

Jennifer shares her children with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, whom she was married to from 2004 until 2014.

Alex was previously married to Cynthia Scurtis, with whom he shares his daughters, from 2002–2008.
