Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested for ‘domestic violence’ due to girlfriend’s call

Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s arrest this month for felony domestic violence was reportedly initiated by a call to police from his girlfriend Saffire Matos.

Ortiz-Magro, 35, was arrested after police on the seen spotted bruises and injuries on Matos that appeared to be from the alleged altercation, TMZ reported Thursday.

The new information seems to conflict with social media statements from the reality star and his girlfriend, both of whom have tried to downplay the arrest.

According to law enforcement sources, Matos was frightened enough by the alleged altercation for her to call the police for help.

The two had reportedly been in a shouting match that turned physical.

The responding officers spoke to both parties and concluded that Ortiz-Magro was responsible for the alleged assault.

According to the sources, there were multiple factors that led them to arrest the reality star, but the most compelling were visible injuries on Martos.

Despite feeling the need to call the police, Matos posted a statement to her Instagram stories four days later in which she tried to downplay the whole thing while calling reports of the arrest ‘false accusations.’

‘Ronnie and I are fine there is a lot misleading information floating around out there [sic],’ she began.

‘With anybody who reached out with concern I appreciate it with all my heart, but everything that’s being portrayed out there are not facts,’ she continued.

‘I don’t think it’s fair that people are using false accusations to gain attention. Please leave Ron and I alone. You don’t know what someone is going through at the end of the day. Don’t believe everything you hear or read online.’

She concluded with a request for privacy and thanks for her supporters.

Ortiz-Magro’s attorney Scott Leemon claimed to not know the details of the incident in a statement to TMZ.

‘We are still investigating the incident of last week and have not yet received any of the police reports. Therefore, we will continue not to comment while our investigation is still ongoing. As we have all learned in the past, initial reports can be and are often incorrect,’ he said.

The Jersey Shore star was previously charged with felony domestic violence after a physical altercation with his on–off girlfriend Jen Harley on October 4, 2019, and he later pleaded no contest to charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest.

He’s currently on probation after pleading to seven misdemeanor counts that included criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and resisting arrest.

Harley was in Las Vegas at the time of her ex’s arrest, so she drove to Los Angeles to pick up their three-year-old daughter Ariana Sky, who had been with Ronnie at the time of the altercation.

Ronnie also moved to downplay the situation with an Insta Stories statement three days after his arrest.

‘I am grateful for all of my real friends,’ he wrote. ‘Thank you for being by myself the last few week. I take all experiences as lessons. You learn who really cares about you when your down and out and than you see who doesn’t [sic]!’

He added, ‘But I guess they call it the weeding process. Thank you to my real friends who haven’t left my side and haven’t betrayed me!’

Ronnie was released at 7:18 p.m. on Thursday after posting a $100,000 bail, TMZ reported.
