Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin resumed training with the Sydney Swans on Monday, after the AFL suspended the football season in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
And over the weekend, the footy star’s wife Jesinta said she felt bittersweet about her husband going back to work, especially following the birth of the couple’s first child, daughter Tullulah.
The new mother admitted she will miss having Buddy around the house all day.

‘Tullulah’s daddy goes back to work tomorrow :(. Happy because Bud can return to what he loves (footy) but a little sad we won’t have you around all day everyday,’ she wrote on her Instagram page.
‘Such a blessing to have all this time as a family,’ she added.
‘As the rest of the world starts to go back to normal we remain in full lock down so footy can resume as safely as possible.’
Jesinta also shared some never-before-seen photos of the couple and their baby girl.

The AFL season will resume on June 11, with players returning to training from Monday and four clubs moving to the Gold Coast due to tighter COVID-19 restrictions in their home states.
Australia’s most popular winter sports league was suspended in March after one round of the season, when domestic travel curbed to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak made the competition untenable.
All players and staff will be tested for COVID-19 prior to returning to their clubs and will be under strict protocols that include ‘risk’ inspections of their homes and social distancing protocols for their family members.

‘Each household will be subjected to risk,’ AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan told a media conference at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last Friday.
‘We’ll be really tough on that now it’s been established that the protocols are part of the rules and we’ll be as transparent as we can about the accountability of those.
‘This will also apply for umpires and key matchday staff once the season resumes.’
