‘It was horrific – people didn’t get to say goodbye’: Jess Glynne reveals her grandmother has passed away from COVID-19 while ‘alone’
Jess Glynne has revealed her grandmother has passed away from coronavirus.
The musician, 31, detailed her heartbreak as she reflected on not being able to see her nan due to the restrictions brought by the pandemic.
In a new interview, the singer also praised the practitioners from Jewish Care who looked after her relative before her death, and shared she’s released a Christmas song to raise money for the health and social organisation.

On her family tragedy, the Rather Be hitmaker said: ‘It was pretty horrific. It’s been hard for my family. It is just dark, people not getting to say their goodbyes.’
The media personality went on to highlight the importance of following the UK government’s Covid limitations in support of the fight against the disease.
Jess added: ‘I’m really cautious in my movements because it is mad serious. You see people being irresponsible and you can’t be. The staff who looked after my nan have been incredible. You aren’t allowed to see anyone and she was alone.’

Expressing her gratitude towards the charity that cared for her family member, the songwriter added to The Mirror: ‘When Nan was at home they looked after her and they have been incredible. They do everything. They are the biggest amazing support that my family and my nan needed.’
The Hampstead native also touched on using her new single as ‘escapism’ and feeling ‘a bit light-hearted in the darkness’.
For the festive season, the award-winning artist covered Donny Hathaway’s classic track This Christmas, available on Amazon Music.
Jess recently joined the likes of Kylie Minogue and Cher for this year’s Children In Need single Stop Crying Your Heart Out.
