Joe Wicks credits his troubled childhood as the motivation behind his success

He’s taken the nation by storm with his YouTube videos helping thousands of kids and adults keep fit during the coronavirus lockdown.

And with the news that his videos racked up £80k in revenue in just a week and was viewed by over 22 million fans, Joe Wicks has credited the motivation behind his success to his troubled childhood.

The Body Coach, 33, also reveals that he’d love to have ‘four or five more’ children with wife Rosie Jones, in addition to their daughter Indie and son Marley.

In recent weeks Joe has seen his popularity soar with his daily work out routines on his social media.

And with the star tipped for bigger things to come, the exercise guru reflected on the journey that has brought him here today, stating his difficult upbringing spurred him on to lead a healthier lifestyle.

In an interview with The Sun, Joe told how his father Gary was a drug addict and his mother Raquela was ‘on the social’, with Joe and his two brother fed unhealthy food at home.

He added that he grew up in a ‘chaotic home’ on a council estate in Epsom, Surrey, where money was tight and his mother lacked the ‘education’ on what to give her sons.

He said: ‘My diet was absolutely shocking. When you grow up in a council estate and there’s not a lot of money about, there’s a lot of meal deals, frozen pies, crispy pancakes, potato waffles, fish fingers and a lot of chocolate.’

He went on to say that while he wasn’t overweight with his unhealthy diet, he was a ‘hyperactive’ child, with exercise a good outlet for him.

He added: ‘We used to drink a carton of Sunny Delight when we got home from school. That was probably 200g of sugar. I was never an overweight kid, just hyperactive. The one constant I had throughout my life was exercise.’

Joe went on to add that while his parents split in 2001, they remain a close family with his dad kicking his drug habit while his mum returned to education and trained to be a social worker.

Meanwhile, Joe is happily married with a family of his own, having married former Page 3 model Rosie, 29, in an idyllic woodland ceremony last year.

The couple have daughter Indie, who will be two in July and son Marley, three months.

However, despite being thrilled about being a dad of two, Joe insisted that he’d love several more.

He gushed: ‘I’ve got a boy and a girl and I just love it so much. I could talk about how fatherhood changed my life all day… I want more kids in the future, for sure – four or five.’

Meanwhile, just days ago, Joe revealed that he has earned more than £80k in revenue from his videos in the last week alone and he’ll be donating it all to the NHS as he keeps the nation (and world) fit during the COVID-19 lockdown.

He told Good Morning Britain last week: ‘I’ve done UK tours, schools. I’ve done YouTube live workouts, I thought why not do it again? I was supposed to be on another tour.

‘We’ve had 22 million views, it’s been unbelievable. I’ve reached millions of families and kids.’

Talking about donating the money from ad revenue to the NHS, he said: ‘I saw the views and its unprecedented. YouTube is a massive part of my business, I saw the numbers [ad revenue] and was blown away. That is going to the NHS.

‘In the past week alone, the ad is almost at £80k ($100,000 US dollars). Every penny, all of that money is going to the NHS. The more we do it, the more we raise, I’m so proud of that.’

Joe is also reported to land a £1million book deal after the success of his YouTube PE classes.

The new venture is said to be ‘gold’ to publishers who are desperate to cash in on the Body Coach star’s following.

MailOnline contacted Joe’s representative for comment.
