Joe Wicks poses shirtless as he reveals he turned down BBC and Channel 4 TV show

His career has reached new heights amid the coronavirus lockdown thanks to his hugely popular YouTube videos.

And Joe Wicks, 33, has revealed that now TV channels such as the BBC and Channel 4 are desperate to sign him up for his own show, but so far he’s declined their offers.

The dad-of-two has also shared that he exercises each day to cope with ‘two screaming babies’ at home in a new interview and sizzling shoot with Men’s Health

Doing it his own way: Joe Wicks, 33, has revealed that now TV channels such as the BBC and Channel 4 are desperate to sign him up for his own show, but so far he’s declined their offers

The fitness guru shows off the results of his hugely popular workout regime in the jaw-dropping cover shoot for the new issue of Men’s Health, posing shirtless for a series of moody black and white photos.

Since launching his daily P.E classes, Joe has raised over £500,000 for the NHS through YouTube advert revenue.

And the Body Coach star has revealed he wanted to donate all the money as it felt wrong to benefit of something he set up to help people.

It is this ethos that meant he also turned down offers from the BBC and Channel 4 as he feels streaming through YouTube ‘reaches more people.’

The star revealed he was turned down by Channel 4 earlier in life when he approached them to do a show.

He told Men’s Health: ‘Fast forward to now, I’ve got Channel 4 asking me to stream these PE workouts live. I’ve got the BBC asking me to sign a contract. All these channels are now coming to me, and I’ve said, “Look, I want to do this on YouTube. I’m reaching more people. Why would I want to do it with you?”‘

The fitness guru also shared that he was blown away by all the money he made but he never intended on profiting from this.

He continued: ‘We didn’t even consider it when we set out, which is why we quickly decided to donate that money to the NHS. It’s a phenomenal amount of money and it just felt right, seeing as it was the community that built it. I didn’t want people to think for a second that I had the intention of financially benefiting from any of this.’

Joe has been isolating with wife Rosie Jones and their two children Indie, 23 months, and Marley, six months.

Throughout the pandemic Joe has consistently exercised to prevent him from getting ‘stressed.’

He told the magazine: ‘If I’m stressed from dealing with two screaming babies, I have to exercise, because it brings me back down a peg. It also gives me energy and boosts my mood. No HIIT, though – it’s all low intensity. I might do 20 minutes on the bike, maybe a few weights.’

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Joe has been chosen to lead a new physical education curriculum on behalf of the government, following in Jamie Oliver’s footsteps.

Joe is said to be the favourite to head the scheme that will help tackle the UK’s obesity crisis amongst children, according to The Mirror on Sunday.

A source for the publication claimed that Secretary of State for Education Gavin Williamson is interested in getting Joe’s assistance with the new scheme.

They explained: ‘Having seen first-hand the impact Joe has had and his online reach and influence – especially to the younger generation – they feel bagging Joe to help them on their mission to combat obesity could be very successful at reaching the Government’s targets over the next two to five years.

‘Joe’s positive impact has put him on the radar of thousands of teachers and senior figures within education.

‘Gavin Williamson has been leading the dialogue around how Joe is able to carry the message of the importance of physical education.’

MailOnline contacted Joe’s representatives for comment at the time.
