John Legend gets matching ‘Jack’ tattoo with wife Chrissy Teigen in honor of the son they lost

John Legend, 41, has gotten a matching tattoo with wife Chrissy Teigen, 34, in honor of their baby son Jack, whom they lost on September 30.  

Photos of the couple’s inked tributes were uploaded to Instagram on Monday by their tattoo artist Winter Stone.  

‘JACK @chrissyteigen @johnlegend My heart is with you, sending you all the love!’ captioned Stone, who tattooed the late child’s name on John and Chrissy’s wrists.

Teigen became pregnant again this year and after she lost the baby she revealed in an emotional Instagram post that she and John had planned to name him Jack. 

The sentimental ink was written in the same font as Chrissy and John’s other tattoos, which pay homage to one another, as well as their two children Luna, four, and Miles, two. 

Chrissy, who got the original matching tattoos with her husband, had ‘John Luna Miles’ inked on her arm, while John had ‘Chrissy Luna Miles’ put on his.

Those tattoos were also the work of Winter Stone, who has inked stars ranging from Lady Gaga to Mandy Moore to Sophie Turner.  

Chrissy first revealed her Jack tattoo by sharing a photo of it to her Twitter page on Saturday evening.

In the snapshots, the model appeared to be holding hands with John across the table as they enjoyed a date night together in Los Angeles.    

In the picture she posted to her Twitter page this Saturday night the word ‘Jack’ can be seen just beneath her right wrist close to ‘John.’

Chrissy had posted footage of herself getting ready for the evening, with makeup by Kristine Studden, hair by Irinel De Leon and styling by Alana Van Deraa. 

When she broke the news of the heartrending loss she explained that it had occurred ‘about halfway through her pregnancy,’ meaning about 20 to 24 weeks.

Pregnancy loss that occurs after the 24-week point is known as stillbirth whereas if it happens before that time it is referred to as a miscarriage.

Chrissy also wrote that in spite of ‘bags and bags of blood transfusions’ the doctors ‘were never able to stop the bleeding.’

She explained: ‘We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever…’ 

Shortly after she lost the baby Chrissy posted Instagram pictures that showed her holding Jack and grieving with John and her mother Vilailuck.

Although she received some criticism on social media she was also defended by celebrities such as Kate Beckinsale.

In her post in support of Chrissy, Kate revealed that she herself ‘lost a baby at 20 weeks’ in a ‘soul destroying experience’ years ago.

John played the Billboard Music Awards a couple of weeks later and said: ‘This is for Chrissy,’ before launching into a stirring rendition of his song Never Break, a tribute to a couple trying to get through times ‘whenever life is hard.’
