Johnny Vegas got his head shaved for charity live on The Steph Show on Friday.

The 49-year-old comedian protested and shouted throughout the whole process, comparing his new look to ‘someone off Les Misérables’.

The star was given a close shave on the Channel 4 programme by St Helens rugby league legend Paul Sculthorpe who used clippers at the end of a six-foot pole.

Terrified: Johnny Vegas got his head shaved for charity live on The Steph Show on Friday – all while adhering to social distancing rules

It wasn’t quite the trim Johnny expected though, having requested a ‘bit off round the back’.

Barking orders at his socially distanced hairdresser, Johnny said: ‘Bit off the side and don’t take the mickey!’

‘We discussed this, this is why we have meetings! I said the sides! What are you doing?’

Watching the whole process from her makeshift studio in her home, host Steph McGovern laughs as she asks him how it’s going.

‘I’m feeling great Steph. I look like someone from Les Misérables!’, Johnny barks.

After Steph liked him to an Easter chick, Johnny joked: ‘I feel like I’ve joined the Marines!’

He added: ‘How can I do food shops looking like this? I looked like I’ve been kicked out the circus!’

The haircut was to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation whose volunteers are working out of local pub The Eccleston Arms to deliver food to St Helen’s frontline heroes, elderly and vulnerable.
