Josie Gibson vows to transform her size 18 body to a 12 after falling back into ‘unhealthy habits’

Josie Gibson has vowed to transform her size 18 figure to a 12 after falling back into ‘unhealthy habits’ of overeating bread and chocolate.

The This Morning presenter, 35, told MailOnline she no longer feels ‘sexy’ and only sees herself as a ‘working mum’ now her body is at an ‘uncomfortable size.’

In an exclusive interview, Josie, who’s a single mum to son Reggie, two, confessed to overindulging with foods that don’t work well with her metabolism – as she aims to slim down before getting back on the dating scene.

Josie, who is the new ambassador for weight loss brand WW, said: ‘I can’t wait to start feeling sexy again. I can’t remember the last time I felt proper sexy. I just feel like a working mum. I don’t feel sexy.

‘I have obviously been big my whole life – I have always been one of those people that’s struggled with my weight.

‘In 2013 I lost weight and then I started putting it on again when I had my son in 2019 and it’s getting to a point now where I feel really, really uncomfortable. I feel uncomfortable with the size I am. I am a size 18.

‘I would like to be a comfortable 12 or a 12-14. I would be so happy with that. I have been a size 8. I don’t think it suits me and it’s a lot of work to get there so I just need to find that happy medium. A size 12 would be ideal.’

Josie, who slimmed down to a size 8 in 2013, said her biggest vice is bread – but she hopes incorporating yoga as well as HITT training into her schedule will help to eliminate her unhealthy urges.

She said: ‘My biggest thing is bread – I love bread and I’ve got the body that’s not designed to love bread.

‘I’ve been eating chocolate – anything I want to have, I’ve had it. Not everyday can be a treat day when you’ve got the metabolism I have. I just can’t wait to have more energy.

‘I remember feeling so fit and healthy and I had so much clarity and nothing was a chore. I have gone back to my old unhealthy eating habits.

‘Because I have got so big, I am really feeling it in my joints now. Yoga is going to be a big part of my journey. I was all about HITT before but now I’m going to have a balance with it all.’

Josie is single after she split from Terry, the father of her child, just five months after she gave birth.

In an interview, Josie explained their relationship ended when her former partner kicked her out of his home on New Year’s Eve in 2018, causing her to see in the New Year from a hotel.

Now, Josie and Terry have found a way to be a family together for Reggie’s benefit – but their dynamic has left the TV personality doubting whether she’ll ever be able to bring a new man into the mix.

She explained: ‘I’m still friends with Reggie’s dad, sometimes we have our rows don’t get me wrong but he’s still very much a part of our lives.

‘We do family things together and we spent Christmas together. I wouldn’t want to bring anybody else into the situation.

‘I couldn’t imagine myself dating now, I just couldn’t. I’ve got my son and I work – I just have not got the time to fit it in.

‘Reg can’t communication yet – not that it would go that far – but I’m very, very funny who I have around my son. I couldn’t have just anyone round here. That’s one thing I take quite seriously. I couldn’t just bring any old person round here, no way.

‘Now you’re not just scared about STIs, you’ve got the STIs and coronavirus! If I was going to meet someone now… I’d love to meet someone surfing or doing something, not in a nightclub, which is a bit like a meat market.’

Josie found fame in 2010 when she won Big Brother – and before the days Instagram existed.

She said the reaction from Twitter when she left the house was ‘horrific’ but now she misses having trolls put her back in her place.

‘Social media has got a lot lovelier. Back in my day we only had Twitter and it was absolutely vile, the trolls were terrible, horrific,’ she explained.

‘But now everyone seems a lot more supportive, empathetic and caring of each other, I have really noticed that.

‘Sometimes when people talk about social media I think “are we on the same thing?” because I don’t see it or get it.

‘I get a lot of supportive messages – sometimes I miss my trolls! They give me a kick up the arse! I love a troll!’

In 2020, she worked hard to bring laughter to the show with her on air escapades, fun-loving personality and comical costumes.

She said: ‘It’s the dream. It’s not just what I get up to, it’s working with the people I do – so much goes work into that show, I didn’t realise the level of work.

‘They’re just such a lovely team it’s like having a second family. They get it with Reg and they really help me with him and they help me with my personal life. It’s one of the best things that have ever happened to me being on This Morning.’

‘I have a coach with WW. The most important thing with losing weight and going on a health journey is your mind and organisation.

‘Now I’ve got the meal planner on the website, in the morning at home I know exactly what I’m going to eat and dinners too.

‘I’m much better when I prep. If I’m working away sometimes I get a driver so she’s going to do it with me, so I have that support around me as well.’
