Kaia Gerber shows off new bright blonde locks during family lunch

Kaia Gerber has given herself a quarantine makeover, showing off her new blonde locks during an outing on Monday.

The model, 18, has ditched her brunette tresses for a bright blonde hue, showing off her newly lightened bob as she arrived at her dad Rande’s restaurant in Malibu.

Kaia looked gorgeous, teaming her sleek locks with flawless makeup for a family lunch at Cafe Habana.

The top model has been sporting blonde highlights in her hair in recent weeks but has now gone the whole way, dying her dark locks. 

She kept the rest of her lunch look simple, teaming a navy cardigan with straight-cut jeans and flip flops.

Kaia’s arm cast could be seen as she emerged from her car, after she revealed last month that she had suffered a fracture. 

Kaia revealed in an April interview with Refinery 29 that she had resorted to at-home hair colouring during lockdown after growing bored with her look. 

‘I recently posted a video on Instagram of Audrey Hepburn cutting her own fringe because I got to the point in quarantine where I was like, I’m either going to cut my hair or dye it,’ she said.

‘I knew something was going to happen, so I decided to give myself at-home highlights.’

‘I don’t know if I’d recommend this, but I just used hydrogen peroxide, a random DIY thing I saw online somewhere. I literally put the straight peroxide on my hair and then dried it with a blowdryer — just to hit it with heat — and it definitely lightened my colour a shade or two, just a subtle change.’ 

The model has been quarantining with her parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in California,and helping out with food donations at her dad’s Malibu restaurant.

The top model has also used her time at home to be active on social media and out in the streets in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The model has voiced her support of making Juneteenth (the June 19th anniversary of the freeing of the last slaves in Texas in 1865) into a national holiday.

She is also using her popular online book club as a forum to publicize black-authored books such as Between The World And Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. 

Speaking to Refinery 29 recently about her time in lockdown, Kaia also revealed she’s also been fostering dogs from the Labelle Foundation.

‘Right now, I have a 3-week-old husky-bulldog mix — at least, I think that’s what she is — and she has given me the greatest gift of responsibility. I can’t sleep all day, I have to get up with her,’ she said.
