Karl Stefanovic leaves his Today show co-stars speechless after making a cringeworthy joke

Karl Stefanovic laughed at his own cringeworthy joke on the Today show on Tuesday.

In a segment about Queensland’s Capricorn Caves, the 46-year-old made a pun that amused him but left his colleagues unimpressed.

The bizarre moment began when weatherman Tim Davies cracked a rather bawdy joke about Karl liking ‘tight holes’ – like the ones in the caves.

‘Do you know what they call those little caves?’ Karl asked his co-stars, before waiting for several seconds.

‘What?’ fellow anchor Allison Langdon, 41, responded.

‘Stalactites,’ Karl said.

A moment’s silence followed, then he burst into laughter.

Allison shook her head and stifled a small laugh, as Karl gave himself a congratulatory fist pump.

‘Oh man, that was bad,’ she said. ‘I’ve heard some bad [jokes]. That was one of your worst… Look at how proud you are.’

Karl found his own gag so funny he snorted, which prompted Allison to say: ‘It’s not snort worthy!’

'It's not snort worthy!' Allison started shaking her head side-to-side while trying to contain her laughter, before watching Karl fist pump the air and then telling him his joke was the 'worst' she had heard

It comes a day after Karl and Allison mocked Married At First Sight bride Martha Kalifatidis for her glorified job title at Sunday night’s Grand Reunion dinner party.

Many viewers thought ‘digital talent’ was just a pretentious way of saying ‘influencer’ – and Allison and Karl agreed with them.

The breakfast TV anchors could not resist joking about Martha’s ‘fancy’ profession while interviewing fellow bride Jessika Power on Monday.

‘Martha, in her job title, describes herself as a “digital talent”. Oh, good grief, is that just a fancy name for an influencer?’ Allison asked.

Karl was so amused by the question he had to shield his face from the camera with a sheet of A4 paper to hide his laughter.

Jessika joked Martha’s job title was most likely the result of the post-production team having ‘only so many ways to say “influencer”‘.
