Knives Out 2 will be spearheaded by the original film’s director, Rian Johnson, who will also write the project’s screenplay.

Although plot details are being withheld from the public, principal photography is set to begin in Greece this summer.

The original Knives Out was centered around the investigation of the murder of a wealthy patriarch of a highly disjointed family, played by the late Cristopher Plummer.

Several notable performers were also featured in the film, including Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon and Jamie Lee Curtis, among several others.

The feature’s 47-year-old director first came up with the movie’s idea in 2005, although he did not begin work on the project until after the release of 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Knives Out received rave reviews upon its 2019 release, with many critics pointing to the strong performances of the cast and the intricately woven plot as high points.

The movie was also a financial success, as it went on to gross just over $311 million on a budget of $40 million.

Johnson was later nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, although the distinction ultimately went to Bong Joon-ho & Han Jin-won for their work on Parasite.

In January of last year, the filmmaker confirmed that he was starting work on a sequel to the feature, and the project was officially greenlit the following month.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Netflix paid just under $470 million for the distribution rights to two Knives Out sequels.
