‘I know it sounds weird…’ Kate Langbroek debuts her post-quarantine weight loss – and the ‘magic’ secret behind her body transformation

Kate Langbroek has left her 10-week quarantine in Italy several kilos lighter.

After finally enjoying a stroll through the streets of Bologna on Monday, the mother-of-four was praised by fans for her slim physique.

The radio presenter, 54, also revealed her ‘magic’ secret to losing weight after one of her Instagram followers asked if she had followed a specific diet.

‘Pasta, homemade bread and lots of housework,’ Kate said of her unlikely diet.

After another fan commented that the ‘bread-and-pasta diet’ didn’t work for them, Kate offered further details about her weight loss.

‘I know this sounds weird, but Italian bread and pasta is different,’ she said, adding that using local olive oil makes for a ‘magical’ and healthy combination.

She also said that constant housework was helping her keep physically active while in self-isolation at home.

Kate and her family had spent 10 weeks self-isolating in their Bologna apartment as Italy’s coronavirus death toll reached 32,000. Lockdown restrictions have since been relaxed.

Kate previously explained that moving to Italy with her husband, Peter Allen Lewis, and their four children in January 2019 had improved her overall health.

After just four months living in Europe, she managed to lose six kilograms without actively trying and while still enjoying food, dropping from 89.1kg to 83.8kg.

‘I always found it very hard to lose weight, because quite frankly, I’m not as interested in losing weight as I am in eating food. It’s as simple as that,’ she said on radio show Hughesy & Ed in May 2019.

At the time, Kate credited her weight loss to Italian olive oil, and said she was having an ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ moment as she settled into her new life overseas.

She continued: ‘There’s no point in moving to Italy if you’re not going to enjoy one of the greatest things about that country, and that is the food.

‘Everyone keeps asking me if I’ve lost weight, and the honest truth is I can’t answer because I don’t have any scales, but I have noticed that my leggings are looser.’
