Kelly Clarkson reveals her daughter’s hilarious trick for getting out of school work

Kelly Clarkson revealed the hilarious trick her six-year-old daughter River has pulled to get out of doing school work in Zoom classes.

The 38-year-old singer was chatting with a flute teacher at a performing arts school, during her ‘Best in Class Hour’ of the show, who said that she misses seeing her students in person.

Clarkson responded by telling the teacher that her daughter has started to ‘freeze’ on Zoom, pretending the connection is bad so she can get out of school work.

‘My daughter does this thing, I don’t know if any of y’all have these kids, she’s actually, it’s quite funny,’ Clarkson began.

‘She will do this,’ she added, while pretending to be frozen in place, adding she will, ‘just pretend that her screen (is frozen),’ Clarkson added.

‘She’s six. She’s six, and I literally caught her just being (frozen), and she’ll just pretend like she’s frozen so she doesn’t have to do what they’re asking her to do,’ Clarkson added.

The flute teacher described trying to teach over Zoom as ‘interesting,’ with Clarkson adding that she’s come across several teachers who have used that same word.

‘I’ve found more teachers and parents doing home school who have used the word “interesting” which is really just code for… a word I can’t say on television, ’cause it’s hard.’

Clarkson added it’s so ‘hard to get them to focus, you know, in general, in the classroom.’

Clarkson is a mother of two, with six-year-old River and four-year-old Remington from her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, the son of her former manager Narvel Blackstock.

The couple split in June, with sources close to the singer and talk show host revealing her top priority is her children.

‘She had to work through a lot of hurt from her childhood. Her priority is making sure her children grow up in a stable, loving environment,’ the source told People.

When she married Blackstock, she also became the step-mother to his kids from a previous marriage, Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13.

‘She’s always thought of Seth and Savannah as her own too, and she has a special relationship with both of them,’ the source said.

‘Kelly wants to remain close with her step-kids,’ the source added.
