Kyle and Jackie O reveal the world’s ‘rudest’ town names

Naughty Girl Creek, Wetwang and Spanker Knob may sound like rude euphemisms or slang terms, but they all have something else in common.

They are names of places that really exist, and were featured in The Kyle and Jackie O Show‘s round-up of the ‘world’s rudest town names’ on Wednesday.

The Sydney radio hosts spoke about the various weird and wacky place names from America, the United Kingdom and Australia. 

‘There’s a town called Intercourse which is actually right in the middle of Amish country [in Pennsylvania],’ Jackie ‘O’ Henderson began. 

She said that was where actor Harrison Ford filmed the 1985 movie Witness, which was all about the Amish people.

‘Pee Pee in Ohio. One of the early settlers inscribed his initials ‘PP’ on a tree. Then there’s Climax in Georgia,’ she continued.

‘That’s because it is actually located at the highest point of a railroad in the state. That’s why,’ she explained. 

Jackie rattled off several other names, including Blue Ball in Pennsylvania and Ballplay in Alabama.

She admitted the names weren’t ‘meant to be dirty’, but they became double entendres as slang terms evolved over time. 

Turning their attention to Britain, Jackie and her co-host Kyle Sandilands jostled over which was the funniest place name.

‘There’s Wetwang in Yorkshire,’ Jackie said. ‘There’s a Cocks, actually spelt C-O-C-K-S. The sign for the town gets stolen all the time from drunk people.’ 

Kyle said ‘someone must be taking the p**s’ when he learned there was a village in Essex called Fingringhoe.

Jackie then noted the many towns and places in Australia ending in the word Knob. 

‘There’s actually 15 places in Australia with the word “knob” in the name,’ she said, adding that ‘other rude places’ include Naughty Girl Creek in Queensland, Bulls**t Hill – ‘a random hill in the middle of nowhere’ – and Wankaroo Creek.
