La La Anthony admits it has been ‘smooth sailing’ quarantining with Carmelo Anthony

Being in quarantine with an ex is for many their worst nightmare.

But La La Anthony insists it is ‘smooth sailing’ as she spends her time in isolation with estranged husband Carmelo Anthony.

The 38-year-old adds that the decision to hole up with the 35-year-old basketball star and other relatives has done wonders for their 13-year-old son Kiyan’s happiness.

‘To see my son just so happy, even in the midst of what’s going on in the world, to me, is what’s important and what matters to me,’ explained La La in an interview with Access Hollywood on Monday.

She continued: ‘So I feel really great about that.’

La La and Carmelo wed in 2010 and split most recently in July last year after he was pictured with another woman. She says they are on ‘good terms’ and navigating through the uncertainties of COVID-19 as a family.

On leaving New York to spend the lockdown in Los Angeles, the former MTV VJ admitted that she ‘felt like it was time to get out of New York.’

‘I was like, “You know, this is not the place to quarantine at anymore. It’s time to go.”

‘So I grabbed some of my nieces, family members, Kiyan, and we came out west and we are just quarantining now together.’

As she listed her quarantine partners during the streamed interview, La La made sure to mention that ‘Melo’ aka Carmelo was ‘here somewhere’ as she looked around the room.

Though family life has proven blissful, Lala admitted that she did experience some struggle, when it came to mastering the art of homeschooling son Kiyan.

‘Kiyan is 13 now, so can you imagine the work that he’s getting? And I’m Googling, like, math problems and this. I’m like, ‘I don’t remember this stuff,” marveled La La.

‘I’m getting help with these online classes,’ expressed La La gratuitously.

‘So at least I have some help to help me with that because wow, the work at 13 — seventh grade — is no joke,’ she concluded.

La La and Carmelo’s relationship has long been a rocky one, having publicly split in April of 2017 before rekindling their romance in December of the following year.

In May of 2019, before their most recent split, La La spoke to Us Weekly about her marriage with Anthony and how it continues to have its difficulties.

‘Marriage is hard,’ she confessed. ‘I tell everybody that, and it’s one day at a time, and that’s what we’re doing. Just trying to take it one day at a time.’
