Meester has become a regular at various Los Angeles-area surf spots, and during an interview with Shape, she credited her husband, Adam Brody, to introducing her to the sport.

During the piece, the actress noted that she has turned her passion for the boardsport into a workout routine and that the activity has done wonders for her self-esteem.

‘Surfing has pretty much been my main form of exercise. I have found that when I don’t have a physical result in mind when I’m exercising-it’s not just about getting sore or getting abs or burning fat-I feel much more confident,’ she said.

‘I’m working on a skill, and that is so fulfilling to me. Plus, being in the ocean is such a spiritual experience that you forget you’re getting a real workout,’ the actress added.

Although the series ended in 2012, development on a soft reboot of the series was first announced in the summer of 2019 and began filming in November of last year.

The show’s executive producer Joshua Schwartz has also mentioned that the development team has reached out to various cast members from the original show to see if they would be interested in reprising their roles for small appearances.

Meester has not confirmed if she will be appearing in the new version of Gossip Girl.

Maybe, maybe not: The show's executive producer said that the old cast members were welcome to return to their old roles for the upcoming soft reboot of the show, although Meester has not confirmed if she will appear in the new series
