Lleyton Hewitt’s TV makeover: Tennis star, 39, looks sun-kissed, buff and tanned as he joins Channel Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open

Lleyton Hewitt appears to have undergone a subtle makeover in recent months.

The tennis legend, 39, looked buff, tanned and confident on Friday as he discussed the matches at the Australian Open on Channel Nine.

The former world number one looked much better compared to some of his past public appearances, where he seemed drawn and a little dusty.

The athlete’s biceps looked impressively toned as he chatted to Nine sportscaster Tony Jones and fellow commentator Jim Courier at Melbourne Park.

Lleyton’s hair was slicked back, and he seemed energetic as he spoke about Alex De Minaur’s performance on the court.

His appearance was very different to how he looked some five years ago when he attended the 2016 Melbourne Cup with his wife, Bec Hewitt.

Lleyton looked a little bleary eyed as he arrived at the race that stops the nation.

Tabloid magazines reported at the time that his ‘partying ways’ were putting strain on his marriage – but he and Bec, 37, are still going strong today.

While Lleyton is no longer competing, he believes his son, Cruz, 12, could be playing at the Australian Open within two years.

He hopes his son goes even further than he did during his stellar career, which spanned 18 years.

‘Hopefully he gets a chance to play in this great event [the Australian Open] if he wants to. Hopefully he beats me,’ Lleyton said recently.

Lleyton married former Home and Away star Bec Cartwright in 2005. They are also parents to two daughters, Mia, 15, and Ava, 11.
