Maisie Williams donates £50,000 to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre during COVID-19 crisis after adopting her own dog Sonny from the shelter
Maisie Williams has donated £50,000 to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre after it was left struggling during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Game Of Thrones star, 23, adopted her own pet pooch, Sonny, from the shelter in 2016 and decided to help out after discovering online they were facing difficulties.
Maisie’s £50,000 will be used to help the rescue centre run for a month as it is set to lose approximately £250,000 in income during the pandemic.

Staff are still working at the Bristol animal centre, which is shut to the public, while its future fundraising events and adoptions have been postponed due to the crisis.
Maisie said: ‘Bristol A.R.C. changes the lives of animals everyday and Sonny, my dog who I adopted from them a few years ago, has changed my life in many ways for the better.
‘It’s so important in these difficult times not to forget about charities like Bristol A.R.C. that need our help.
‘So please make a donation to their appeal if you can. We all need to stick together in these dark times and keep the world spinning regardless.’

Meanwhile manager, Jodie Hayward, said: ‘To know that Maisie respects and loves what we do so much means the world to us.
‘I couldn’t believe it when I heard what she had done to support us, I had to hold back a few tears!
‘It really will make the world of difference to us right now and we can’t thank her enough for her generosity.’

Taking to Instagram, the Game Of Thrones actress revealed she had been treated to cocktails, chips and balloons as they marked the occasion together.
Reuben also shared a sweet post with a selection of throwback snaps of the pair, as he promised ‘more life, more memories’.
He added: ‘Happy birthday angel, love you xxx’

Meanwhile, Maisie shared: ‘It’s my birthday stay indoors’, as she urged her followers to respect the lockdown and social distancing guidance.
Maisie and Reuben first sparked romance rumours last February after they were spotted strolling around New York City holding hands.
She seemed to make the relationship official after he accompanied her to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s French wedding back in June, posting a photo of them together on Instagram.
