A man has appeared in court after being charged with the attempted murder of a nine-year-old boy.
Faisal Khan, 24, of Peterborough, was arrested at his home after the attack on Saturday afternoon and remains in custody after being brought to court today.
The schoolboy was stabbed in the face and arms while out walking their family dog with his older brother in Peterborough at 3.24pm and had to be airlifted to hospital.
The stabbing is thought to have been random and has left the child with life-changing injuries.
He was initially taken to Peterborough City Hospital but was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains in a stable condition.

Prosecutors allege that Khan followed the boy down the street as he walked, overtook him and then repeatedly stabbed him.
Khan was initially on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm but his full charge now includes attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.
Khan has been remanded in custody and appeared before Peterborough magistrates today, where he was not asked to enter pleas.
He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
No application for bail was made and he was remanded in custody to appear before Cambridge Crown Court tomorrow.
