Before the birth announcement, Rebecca revealed that her waters had broken, just days after she had told how she’d been ‘in the early stages of labour’, after reaching her due date.

Earlier in the day, she filmed herself in the car as the couple drove home from the hospital following a ‘successful sweep’ – which involves a midwife or doctor sweeping their finger around the cervix during an internal examination to attempt to separate the membranes of the amniotic sac surrounding baby to bring on labour.

In the days leading up to the baby’s arrival, Marcel and Rebecca took to Instagram to share the methods they were using to induce labour, including ‘curb walking’ – with one foot on the curb and the other on the road.

After a trip to see the midwife, Rebecca told her Instagram followers: ‘[The midwives] measure in fifths, so the baby is four-fifths down – and when he gets to five fifths, I go into labour. So I’m very excited!’
