‘I wasn’t expecting a hotel room this small,’ he said in the first clip, which panned around the space, revealing his bed, chairs, a number of water bottles and a TV.

‘F**k all room. [I’ve] seen studio apartments bigger than this,’ he added, recording a small fridge and his luggage standing in a corner.

In the next clip, Lachlan zoomed in on an air vent in the room, which appeared to be caked in dust.

‘When people are asking how the f**k is Covid going through the air vent, because they never f**king clean ’em!’ he said in that video.

‘Look how dirty that s**t is,’ he added, getting a close-up of the vent. ‘And this is a  hotel that has already had Covid go through it once and spread between the floors’.

‘All of that!’ he then snapped, getting even closer to the vent, before saying in an exasperated tone: ‘F**king Novotel!’

According to the World Health Organization, ‘a well-maintained and operated [ventilation] system can reduce the spread of Covid-19 in indoor spaces by increasing the rate of air change, reducing air recirculation and increasing the amount of outdoor air coming in.

‘Settings that recirculate the air should not be used. HVAC [heating, ventilation, and air conditioning] systems should always be regularly inspected, maintained, and cleaned.’

In December, a woman who was the first Covid-19 positive test in New South Wales in 25 days was working at the Novotel and Ibis quarantine hotels in Sydney’s Darling Harbour with returned travellers.

In January, it was revealed that Covid had broken out of Sydney’s hotel quarantine system four times in the previous month.
