Married At First Sight’s Bryce Ruthven claims he was ‘stitched up’ during the ‘cruel’ ranking challenge – as fans slam producers for forcing contestants to rate other couples

Married At First Sight star Bryce Ruthven left his new wife Melissa Rawson distraught after ranking her ‘fourth hottest’ of the brides on Tuesday night.

But on Wednesday, the 31-year-old claimed producers ‘stitched him up’ during the ‘cruel’ challenge.

‘I was told [to rate people] on attractiveness and others were told personality, so we were told mixed things,’ Bryce told B105’s Stav, Abby and Matt.

‘Unfortunately they were stitching some people up and I was on that board,’ he said.

Bryce explained he was told to rate the brides from most attractive to least attractive and ‘purely just based on looks’ while others were told to focus on personality.

He also told WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda: ‘That was one part of the whole experiment I thought “what are we doing?”. That’s not a normal thing to do in a relationship.’

‘If someone told me to do it on the overall package; looks, personality, future goals, Melissa would of been leaps and bounds number one.’

On Tuesday, the show’s participants were tasked with ranking the show’s brides and grooms in order of who they found the most attractive.

Bryce told his wife Melissa that Rebecca Zemek topped his list, ranking her at number one, while his wife only placed fourth.

Fans were less than impressed with the challenge, with many slamming producers for forcing contestants to rate other couples.

‘I could not handle this. It is just toxic imagine telling someone you are married too you are not attracted to them and they are not your type then the whole ranking shenanigans,’ one person wrote.

‘Why is this photo ranking exercise even necessary? #MAFSAU’ another said.

‘The ranking thing on #MAFSAU tonight was really harsh and cruel,’ another person agreed.

One person said: ‘I fail to see how ranking women and men from who you are most attracted to in front of your partner helps a marriage. Well done relationship experts.’

‘Hey @Channel9 this ‘ranking’ exercise is disgusting. If you really insist on doing it, at least give them photos of celebrities or strangers. You are basically encouraging and condoning cheating,’ another said.
