Married At First Sight’s Cyrell Paule blasts participants who claim producers forced them to stay

‘Just tell the truth, you wanted more airtime!’ Married At First Sight’s Cyrell Paule SLAMS this year’s cast for saying producers ‘forced them to stay’

Former Married At First Sight star Cyrell Paule has rubbished claims that producers ‘force’ participants to stay in the experiment against their will.

In recent weeks, the likes of Connie Crayden, Jonethen Musulin and Mishel Karen have alleged they were told they couldn’t write leave at the commitment ceremonies even though their relationships had irreparably broken down.

‘I have read multiple times they’ve said they were forced to stay, but no one puts a gun to your head,’ Cyrell told WHO magazine on Monday.

‘Stop using this as an excuse and tell the truth. You wanted more airtime so you agreed to stay. It’s not that hard and it doesn’t take a genius to know that,’ she said.

It comes after Connie told NW magazine last month she had been forced to write stay even though it was clear she and Jonethen were ‘nothing more than friends’.

‘They tried to convince me for 12 hours to write stay again. Finally they convinced me to write stay [and] I felt awful holding him against his will,’ she claimed.

Bizarrely, Connie backpedalled on these claims in a subsequent radio interview with  Hit Mid North Coast’s Krysti & Bodge.

‘I wasn’t forced to write stay. I am the one who put the pen to paper,’ she said.

Connie did imply, however, that there was a element of coercion involved – even if she was ultimately the one who made the decision.

‘At the end of the day, it is a TV show. Producers will do and say anything they can to execute the storyline they want,’ she said.

Meanwhile, Jonethen has also claimed producers were ‘desperate’ to keep him in the experiment even after he’d made it clear he wanted to quit.

The crew allegedly had to persuade him to write stay during one of the commitment ceremonies, before offering him a ‘bonus’ to sweeten the deal.

He told New Idea a producer had asked him: ‘What can we do to make you stay?’

Jonethen reportedly demanded changes to his contract so he could fly between Sydney and the Gold Coast to visit his father, who had suffered a stroke.

Furthermore, Mishel recently told Daily Mail Australia producers had ‘forced’ her to write stay when she actually wanted to leave her ‘husband’, Steve Burley.
