  • When a fan voiced concerns over corona, he responded: ‘I hope not too, but I have no fever, no cough and still have my sense of taste, so I think it’s unlikely’

Martin Lewis sparked concerns among fans that he had contracted coronavirus when he fell ill while live on television on Thursday night.  

The presenter, 48, announced he was feeling ‘nauseous and weak’ before presenting The Martin Lewis Money Show at 8.30pm alongside Angelica Bell. 

After the show, penned on Twitter: ‘The problem with having your own live TV show, is when you’re feeling under the weather as I am right now (nauseous and weak) show must go on. Let’s hope Dr. Showbiz helps…

‘At least I’m doing it from home so I can go to bed straight afterwards.’ A concerned fan replied to say: ‘It’s not the virus I hope .’ 

Martin replied to the fan saying: ‘I hope not too, but I have no fever, no cough and still have my sense of taste, so thankfully I think it’s unlikely’.

Another fan pleaded with Martin to get tested for COVID-19 just in case and wrote: ‘Maybe time to get tested before you do any more shows! Hope you feel better soon – you need to rest up.’ 

As he introduced the show he told Angelica: ‘I’m a little bit under the weather, a bit nauseous, but I’ve got make up on to cover the green!’

Another fan responded to his tweet to say: ‘Nausea is now a listed symptom, take care Martin’.

While another said: ‘My sister had all the symptoms of a kidney infection. She was sick which then raised her temperature so was able to book a test. 

‘Came back positive. Wouldn’t hurt to do a test just in case.’

And another wrote: ‘I’ve had it and it started with tiredness, headache, nausea and upset stomach. Then it became a cold after 3 days with a chesty cough. 

‘Taste and smell didn’t go until around day 10. Hope it’s not and that you feel better soon, but would get tested now that you can.’

Martin made it through the show without incident and has continued to tweet as normal today and without any additional mention of his illness.
