Channel 10 announces the air date for the next season of MasterChef Australia as new judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen are set to make their debut
Channel 10 has finally announced the air date for the new season of MasterChef Australia.
The network confirmed on Thursday that the reality cooking show will air on Monday, April 13 at 7.30pm as Australians continue to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Season 12, called MasterChef – Back To Win, will see 24 contests from past seasons of the show return to the kitchen in a bid to win a cash prize of $250,000.

Contestants include returning favourites Poh Ling Yeow, Reynold Poernomo, Hayden Quinn and Callum Hann.
It will also be the first season for the new judges chef Jock Zonfrillo, food writer Melissa Leong and MasterChef season four winner Andy Allen.
This comes after Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston and George Calombaris’ contracts were not renewed after 11 seasons of hosting the show.

When the judges were announced where announced last year, Network 10 Chief Content Officer, Beverley McGarvey said in a statement: ‘In a nation obsessed with food, we are thrilled to welcome Jock, Melissa and Andy as judges to MasterChef Australia.’
‘Their combined culinary credentials coupled with their passion and sheer joy for food, and their relentless enthusiasm to explore ingredients, preparation and cooking methods ensures we are in for a real treat,’ she added.
Filming for the new season began in earlier this year in Melbourne.
Special guest: The new season will also feature American singer Katy Perry – who is pregnant with her first child to fiancé Orlando Bloom – as a special guest. Her song Hit N Cold has been the theme song for the show for the past 11 seasons

It comes as the number of coronavirus cases in Australia continues to escalate.
As of Friday morning, there are 2,810 confirmed cases in the country, including 13 deaths.
