‘I cannot imagine life without them’: Masterchef’s Jess Liemantara shares an adorable tribute to her best friends Reece Hignell and Brendan Pang

Jess Liemantara has remained close friends with Brendan Pang and Reece Hignell since they appeared together on Masterchef season 10 in 2018.   

The pastry chef, 22, shared her pride for her best friends on Wednesday, just days after Brendan Pang was eliminated from Masterchef Australia: Back To Win, leaving Reece still in the running.   

‘I cannot imagine life without my Audrey’s!’ Jess wrote on Instagram, referring to the group nickname the trio gave themselves in 2018.

‘I cannot imagine life without them’: On Wednesday, Masterchef’s Jess Liemantara shared an adorable tribute to her best friends Reece Hignell and Brendan Pang 

She continued: ‘Through late night cheeky drinks, fancy homemade lunches, memorable nights excluding the memory, casual banter, [watching] RuPaul to working through our careers together.

‘Once an Audrey always an Audrey. Missing you both dearly and super proud of you both.’ 

Back in July 2018, Reece explained to Instagram fans how the moniker ‘The Audrey’s’ came about.

The 28-year-old shared a photo of the group eating pizza, writing in the caption: ‘The three of us are often asked why we call each other ‘The Audrey’s’.

‘Well, during our trip to Darwin, Jessie bought Brendan, herself and I matching stuffed monkeys named Audrey as a token of our friendship. 

‘The experiences and opportunities MasterChef has provided all of us has been mind-blowing, however the friendships I have made during this competition is not comparable to anything else.’ 

On Sunday night’s episode of MasterChef: Back To Win, Brendan was eliminated from the competition, leaving fans heartbroken across the country.

But none of them ached quite like his best mate Reece, who was clearly upset by his friend’s departure.   

Appearing to look towards an emotional Reece as he gave his farewell speech, Brendan said, ‘I’ve made some lifelong friendships.’ 

Reece looked down at the floor, his head bowed and clearly emotional, as Brendan spoke. 

The men parted with an elbow bump, with COVID-19 social distancing rules keeping them from even sharing a hug goodbye.
